How might we let users curate a memorable succulent gift?
An ecommerce checkout process packed with options. Easy ones. Fun ones. Users find a succulent. Add it to their cart. Then choose how to personalize it. They can add their own styling preferences like choosing the packaging (box, ribbon, label/holiday), writing a message that gets included inside the gift, and selecting whether to pick it up or have it shipped.
An itinerary builder with ease of use and organization at its core

Determine current target user groups. Segment product categories so business products can be tracked and results measured. Elevate the Sunshine Succulents brand among competitors. Position them as a high-quality succulent provider with a niche in the packaging/gifting of succulents. Design an easy-to-use, highly usable ecommerce site and checkout process that appeals to target users. Test ease of use, efficiency of order process, and enjoyment with users after each iteration.

Interactions and user flow were validated through user testing. The improvements made based on the usability testing include the free 30-day return policy visible now in the promotional banner above the logo sitewide. Mouseover dropdown lists were added to the main navigation for all pages of the site. A Shop All Gifts button was added to 4 out of 5 rotating carousel images in the hero section of the homepage as well as just below the three main product category images directly below the fold on the homepage. Additional shipping speeds were added as options to the checkout page as well as the option to pick up in store at one of the three locations. The free shipping holiday promotion was added to the cart summary page. Lastly, buttons to print, edit or cancel order were added to the confirmation page. It was through each evaluation that opportunities and refinement were emphasized and implemented within iterations. The final product was a result of qualitative user feedback and usability testing.
